Analytics Without Cookie Consent Banners
Track website visitors accurately without setting a single cookie. DataSaaS uses privacy-first fingerprinting with daily-rotating hashes so you stay GDPR-compliant without annoying consent popups.

How Cookieless Tracking Works
Instead of storing a cookie, DataSaaS generates a daily unique identifier by hashing the visitor's IP address, User-Agent, and a server-side salt using SHA-256. The salt rotates every 24 hours at midnight UTC, making it impossible to track individuals across days. No personally identifiable information is ever stored in your database.
- SHA-256 hash of IP + User-Agent + daily salt produces a unique but anonymous visitor ID
- Salt rotates at midnight UTC — the same visitor gets a new hash each day
- Raw IP addresses are never stored, only the irreversible hash
- The hashing happens server-side; no data is stored in the visitor's browser
GDPR, CCPA & ePrivacy Compliance
Because cookieless mode stores no data on the visitor's device and retains no PII on the server, it falls outside the scope of cookie consent requirements under GDPR, CCPA, and the ePrivacy Directive. You can remove your consent banner entirely for analytics, reducing friction for every visitor.
- No cookies, localStorage, or sessionStorage used in cookieless mode
- No personally identifiable information stored — only anonymous hashes
- Compliant with GDPR Article 6(1)(f) legitimate interest basis
- No consent banner needed for analytics when using cookieless mode
Accuracy: Cookieless vs Standard Mode
Cookieless tracking is highly accurate for pageviews, unique visitors (within a day), and traffic source attribution. Because the hash resets daily, multi-day visitor identification is approximate rather than exact. For most websites, the difference in total visitor counts is under 5% compared to cookie-based tracking.
- Pageviews: 100% accurate — every page load is counted regardless of mode
- Daily uniques: near-identical accuracy to cookie-based tracking
- Multi-day returning visitors: approximate, since the hash resets daily
- Traffic sources and referrers: fully accurate in both modes
When to Use Cookieless vs Standard Mode
Use cookieless mode if you want zero consent banners and operate in the EU or privacy-conscious markets. Use standard cookie mode when you need precise multi-day visitor tracking, revenue attribution across sessions, or funnel analysis that spans multiple visits. You can switch between modes at any time from your dashboard settings.
- Cookieless: ideal for blogs, landing pages, content sites, and EU-focused businesses
- Standard: best for SaaS apps, e-commerce, and multi-session conversion funnels
- Revenue attribution works best with standard mode for cross-session accuracy
- Switch modes instantly from Dashboard → Settings — no code changes required
Frequently asked questions
Do I really not need a cookie consent banner with cookieless mode?
Correct. Cookieless mode does not store any data on the visitor's device — no cookies, no localStorage, no fingerprinting data. Under GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive, consent is only required when you store or access data on the user's device. Since DataSaaS cookieless mode does neither, no banner is needed for analytics.
How accurate is cookieless tracking compared to cookies?
For daily metrics like pageviews, unique visitors, and traffic sources, cookieless mode is nearly identical in accuracy. The main trade-off is multi-day visitor identification: because the hash rotates daily, returning visitors get a new ID each day. For most sites, total visitor counts differ by less than 5%.
Can I use revenue attribution with cookieless mode?
Revenue attribution works best with standard cookie mode because it needs to link a visitor across their initial visit and a later purchase. In cookieless mode, if the visit and purchase happen on the same day, attribution still works. For multi-day purchase journeys, standard mode is recommended.
Can I switch between cookieless and standard mode?
Yes. You can toggle between modes at any time from Dashboard → Settings → Tracking. The change takes effect immediately with no code changes on your website. Historical data is preserved regardless of which mode you use going forward.
